Cheers to the single life! New bachelor Tom Cruise is surrounded by women as he enjoys a night out at a bar whilst on holidays in Croatia

By Daily Mail Reporter

A newly single Tom Cruise sailed into the Croatian island of Hvar last night for a much needed break.

Despite the stress of his recent high-profile split from Katie Holmes, the Mission: Impossible actor looked happy and relaxed as he posed with a bevvy of attractive female fans at the popular resort located off of the Dalmation Coast.

Wearing a black t-shirt and tan cords that showed off his trim physique, Cruise, 50, was also spotted having a glass of red wine with a group of friends in picturesque town of Pjaca.

Back on the market: A newly single Tom Cruised posed with fans in Croatia

According to local press, the recently divorced actor flew from London into the Adriatic port of Split yesterday where a luxury yacht awaited him.

Cruise will reportedly spend a few days cruising around the Adriatic islands aboard the Lady S. yacht, accompanied by two bodyguards.

This is Tom's second trip to Croatia - he last visited Dubrovnik and the island of Mljet in 2004 after his break up with the Spanish actress Penelope Cruz.

The devoted Scientologist may well be there on a religious mission as the Church of Scientology of Croatia was registered as a religious community in 2003.

Holmes, 33, stunned Cruise by filing for divorce in July after five years of marriage amid rumours she feared his devotion to the Scientology religion would take over their daughter.

Days after their divorce was settled, court papers revealed that the now thrice-divorced actor, will not hand over any ‘spousal support’ to Holmes but must pay £21,000 a month for his daughter Suri, six, until she turns 18.

Although the pair had been keen to keep the specifics of their super-fast 10-day divorce under wraps, insiders said that Katie was so keen to prevent six-year-old Suri from becoming immersed in Tom’s religion, that she eschewed spousal support in a bid to speed up their split.

Katie has since set up home in Manhattan with sole custody of Suri, while Tom has ensured she will no longer have access to his adopted kids, Connor and Isabella.

Cheers to that: Tom has now been married and divorced three times

But a source told RadarOnline last week that Katie did manage to secure a sizeable trust fund for Suri that she will be able to tap into after she turns 18 years old.

'Katie has absolutely no access to the money and didn't want to. She just wanted to ensure that Suri would have financial security as she becomes an adult.'

'It's a sizable trust fund, but Suri won't be able to fully legally claim it until she is in her 30s.'

The insider added: 'Tom had no problem with the request and planned on doing it for Suri anyway.'

Relaxed: Tom is taking a break after his high profile split from Katie Holmes last month

Untroubled: Tom's prenuptial agreement safeguarded his $270 million fortune

The brunette beauty will still be able to keep the designer handbags and other pricey gifts that the Top Gun star treated her to during their time together.

A source said: 'Tom was extremely generous to Katie with lavish gifts during their marriage and she will be keeping millions of dollars of jewelry, Hermes handbags and other luxurious items.'

'Tom gave Katie diamond earrings as a birthday gift one year that easily cost over $500,000 and he had custom design pieces made for her. Under terms of the divorce, Katie is keeping all of the jewelry, handbags, accessories, and designer clothing. What she does with it is up to her.'

'For the time being, the jewels are being kept in a very safe place and knowing Katie, it's likely she will one day give them to Suri once she is old enough.'

Date night with Daddy: Suri Cruise looks shattered after reuniting with Tom and spending the entire day with him

By Daily Mail Reporter

It was no doubt an emotional reunion, so it's no wonder Suri Cruise was feeling shattered last night.

The six-year-old has spent the entire day with her father Tom and appeared to be falling asleep in his arms as their day came to an end.

It was the first time the pair had spent time together since Tom and Katie Holmes announced their divorce.

Feeling sleepy: Suri Cruise looks shattered following her reunion with her father Tom in New York City

Suri was still wearing the same orange summer dress that she was spotted in earlier on in the day, and also had with her the same cuddly toy.

Tom had apparently taken his youngest child to her gymnastics class before heading back to his hotel with her.

The dark-haired youngster was obviously feeling ready for bed and flung her arms around the actor and buried her face into his neck.

Time for bed: The Hollywood actor had taken Suri to her gymnastics class and was heading back to his hotel

Tom headed straight to the Big Apple after shooting on the his latest movie Oblivion wrapped in California on Monday and he flew in overnight.

Suri was seen cuddling her father again with one arm and clutched a soft toy in the other as he carried her into the Greenwich Hotel.

Hold on tight: Suri doesn't seem to want to let go of her father as she flings her arm around his neck

They later emerged, seemingly having changed outfits, with Suri switching from casual red flip-flops into a pair of burnt red patent flats - although her orange dress remained the same.

Tom also seemed to have freshened up, wearing a navy T-shirt instead of a light blue shirt.

His sister Cass Mapother was also seen arriving at the establishment with toys in tow.

Daddy's girl: Tom Cruise and daughter Suri reunited in New York today

Tom had no contact with Katie when he made a five minute visit to her apartment to collect their child earlier this morning, according to TMZ.

Tom and Suri were last spotted in public together on June 16, when they dined at Sushi Samba in Reykjavik, Iceland, along with Katie.

It was no doubt an emotional reunion for father and daughter, who have been keeping in touch via phone and video chat in recent weeks.

It would have been even more poignant given last night's scare which saw Katie and Suri involved in a car accident, capping off a tumultuous time for the little girl.

The former Dawson's Creek actress and daughter were riding in the back of a black Mercedes sedan when it was struck by a dump truck in New York yesterday evening.
No one was reported hurt in the incident, which onlookers say was minor.

One source said: “It was nothing major other than the fact that it was Katie Holmes.'

Police arrived on the scene and noted the actress' chauffeur-driven vehicle had sustained a large dent and several scratches to the rear driver side panel after the Volvo truck - from Classic Sanitation Recycling New York Corp - had apparently backed into the luxury vehicle.

Holding on tight: The six-year-old cuddled her father with one arm and clutched a soft toy with the other

Katie - who filed for divorce from her daughter's father, actor Tom Cruise, last month - and Suri were not seen at the scene of the crash.

Last week the Mission Impossible star's lawyer, Bert Fields said the actor was eager to be with his daughter again, adding: 'Tom loves Suri very, very much, as he does his other two children. Tom is a family man, and dedicated to his children. They are the centre of his world.'

Tom's older children Isabella, 19, and 17-year-old Connor from his marriage to Nicole Kidman have both been spending time with him in recent weeks, including sombre birthday celebration on July 3.

He's back! Tom jetted to New York from California overnight to see his little girl

Following her split from Tom on June 29, Katie has secured primary custody of their little girl in an undisclosed divorce agreement.

It was recently revealed she has enrolled Suri into New York's Convent of the Sacred Heart School.

The conservative school - where former pupils include Lady Gaga and Paris Hilton - was chosen because the actress wants her daughter to have a Catholic education, rather than being taught at a Scientology school as the Mission: Impossible star desired.

Will Tom let Katie have Suri? New reports claim that divorce will not go to court and is being settled behind closed doors and will stay in New York

•She's hired Allan Mayefsky and his partner Michael Mosberg
•They were principle legal players in messy divorce of Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook
•Meeting comes after Cruise's lawyer accuses Katie's camp of 'playing the media'
•Sources close to Tom say divorce was NOT over Scientology
•Divorce proceedings will reportedly stay in the state of New York... for now

If looks could talk: Katie Holmes leaves her lawyer's office in Midtown Manhattan with a half-smile on her face

Expectations that the divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes would be a long, drawn out and bitterly contested legal fight may not be realised according to new reports.

Attorneys for the estranged couple are reported to be finalising a full divorce settlement behind closed doors that will not even require Holmes or Cruise to make a court appearance in either California or New York.

The legal teams for the separated couple are trying to thrash out agreements on properties, child support, visitation and whether the pair will have joint custody of their six-year-old girl Suri or whether Holmes will keep sole custody as she filed for in her divorce petition.

Centre of attention: Katie is caught in the middle of a security and photographers scrum

Fresh start: Katie filed for divorce after nearly six years of marriage

Thirty-three-year-old Holmes was scheduled to face a family court judge on July 17, but the new claims from a source very familiar with the case told TMZ that the negotiations were 'calm' and the case might not go to court at all.

Katie Holmes is gearing up for a very high-profile divorce battle with husband Tom Cruise as she was seen visiting her lawyer today.

The actress, 33, was seen at the New York offices of her heavyweight lawyers Allan Mayefsky and his partner Michael Mosberg on Friday morning with a team of four bodyguards.

The estranged couple's six-year-old daughter, Suri, was not seen with the star.

According to People.com, Katie was dress casually in white jeans and a yellow top as she exited a Mercedes with tinted windows and walked into the midtown Manhattan building.

Calling a truce?: Attorneys for Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are reported to be finalising a full divorce settlement behind closed doors

Katie is said to have hired law firm Aronson, Mayefsky and Sloan to handle the proceedings - an indication she is prepared to play hardball from the outset.

The 58-year-old Harvard graduate was one of the principle legal players in the messy divorce of model and actress Christie Brinkley and her husband Peter Cook, which has become notorious as one of the most bitter of Hollywood break-ups.

Mr Mayefsky is a shrewd operator who has a habit of airing the grievances of his clients in front of the media.

He is known for demanding an even split of proceeds in divorces and for winning £28 million for the wife of a Wall Street financier in a landmark case in 2003.

Meeting: Katie was spotted visiting her lawyer's office following the revelations

RadarOnline reports the actress will ask Cruise for child support at their first divorce hearing in New York on July 17.

Katie is expected to appearing in person when the hearing takes place.

A source told Radar: 'Katie’s legal team will be requesting temporary child support to cover living expenses and the added security she has hired since her split from Tom.

'Tom's Los Angeles lawyers have officially been given notice. Tom's New York lawyer will appear and it's undetermined at this time if Tom will be in court also because he is currently shooting a movie.'

Mayefsky's co-counsel, Jonathan Wolfe, is a partner in the relatively low-profile New Jersey-based firm of Skoloff & Wolfe.

Crucially, Mr Wolfe is an expert in what is euphemistically known in American legal circles as 'business evaluation' (in plain English, that means he is a terrier when it comes to finding hidden money).

No awkward reunion: Katie and Tom may not even be required to appear in court if they reach a settlement

Preparing her case: Katie Holmes, left, enters the midtown Manhattan office of her divorce lawyer Allen Mayefsky on Friday

Already specialist forensic accountants, employed by one of the two legal firms she has engaged, are busy untangling the complex web of businesses and trusts that manage the Top Gun star’s estimated £180 million fortune.

They want to establish Tom’s exact wealth, which suggests 33-year-old Holmes is not prepared to walk away with the relatively modest settlement of £10 million that has been widely quoted — £2 million for every year of their five-year marriage as stipulated in the couple's 100-page pre-nuptial agreement.

Katie's meeting on Friday came after Cruise's attorney Bert Fields lashed out at the actress and her legal team, accusing them of 'playing the media'.

Heavy security: The actress, 33, was seen at the New York offices with a team of four bodyguards

Undercover: Katie ducked inside as she was quietly ushered in the building

Fields told BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat: 'Tactically we can't say where Tom will file a divorce case and if he'll be seeking joint custody of Suri.'

'We are letting "the other side" play the media until they wear everyone out and then we'll have something to say,' he added.

He would not be drawn on specific details of the divorce - but did stick the knife in and insisted Tom was 'really sad about what's happening'.

Strain of the break-up appeared to be taking its toll on the actress, who yesterday failed to hide her shrinking frame when she spent the day with her child by the Mission Impossible actor.

The 33-year-old's blue and orange halterneck top clearly displayed her bony back and angular collarbone and her blue jeans seemed to hang off her.

While Katie attempted a steely resolve, Suri looked tired and strained by the emotional custody battle her parents are to embark on.

Katie held her daughter tenderly in her arms during a trip with friends - and of course security - to the Children's Museum of the Arts in the Soho area of New York City.

Little Suri, dressed in a pink dress and holding onto a cuddly toy, clung to her actress mother.

On Wednesday, Katie - who filed for divorce from the Hollywood star last week - spent American holiday Independence Day as a single mother for the first time.

The Dawson's Creek beauty was seen at Wholefoods supermarket near her Chelsea apartment stocking up on food supplies.

Taking its toll? Katie Holmes put on a brave face yesterday as she showed off her rail-thin figure while carrying daughter Suri in New York after splitting from Tom Cruise

Loose fit: Katie's halter-neck top was hanging off her - and she didn't appear to be in need of a bra

Making her way to the store, dressed casually in a denim shirt and a floral summery skirt, the mother-of-one looked feminine and pretty as she skipped along with Suri, who was in the same multi-coloured poppy dress she was in the night before.

Inside the market, Suri rode in the front of the shopping cart playing with a pale pink cowboy hat, with Katie photographing her wearing it.

The mother and daughter duo were accompanied by one of Katie's bodyguards from her top heavy security team.

During the outing Katie reassured fans that she is coping following the split from the Hollywood star.

Approached as she stocked up on food, Katie told a New York Daily News reporter: 'I'm alright. Thank you.'

Meanwhile it emerged that Katie Holmes is set to show her label Holmes & Yang at New York Fashion Week this September for the first time.

A spokesperson for Katie told WWD that her personal life would not impact her fashion label, despite her high-profile split from Tom Cruise last week.

The newly-single actress co-designs the label, which launched in 2009, with her stylist and long-time friend Jeanne Yang.

Available at Barneys New York, Holmes & Yang specialise in wearable day-to-night pieces and luxury basics that are all manufactured in the U.S.

Taking life into her hands: Katie stepped out braless and ringless as she moves on to the 'new phase' of her life

Protected: Katie was flanked by a burly security guard

Katie told the New York Times: 'We know that women are on the go and do a lot of different sorts of things all in one day. Hopefully, [Holmes & Yang] helps to provide them with some confidence in attacking all those different roles.'

Ms Yang added: 'We wanted to make pieces that you could bend over and pick up your kid in and also look really elegant.

'Just comfortable clothes that you can wear going from a meeting to being a mom to going on a date.'

Mission accomplished. Season after season, Holmes & Yang creates a base palette of cream, navy, and black, featuring luxe shirts and trousers; textured silk jumpsuits; motorcycle jackets; leather, silk-lined blazers; and dresses worthy of the red carpet.

Showing their spring collection in New York for the first time with an intimate presentation, instead of a runway show, will firmly put Katie back on the high-fashion map.

Helping hand: Suri was guided along by her mother, who tenderly placed an arm on each of her daughter's shoulders

Tea time: Katie and Suri also had a meal at Alice's tea cup during their girly day out together

Since her marriage to Tom Cruise in 2006, and her first foray into couture the same year with Victoria Beckham, the golden girl of Dawson's Creek has kept a low profile within the fashion industry.

However after she made the decision to file divorce papers last Friday, Katie is set to step out of Tom's Scientology shadow and back into the spotlight.

The 50-year-old actor was said to be 'blindsided' when his wife filed for divorce from him last week after five years of marriage and sought legal custody of their child - intends to go to court in Los Angeles in person to ensure he is legally allowed to see the youngster.

The way they were: Katie announced that she was splitting with her husband of six years last Friday

Katie filed for the divorce in New York because she believes she has a better chance of winning custody, and although Tom was encouraged to file in California, the law states divorce cannot be filed in separate states at the same time.

A source said: 'Tom has told Dennis Wasser and Bert Fields, his long-time entertainment lawyer, that his first priority is getting a court order in place, obviously a temporary one, that will allow him to legally see his daughter.

'Team Cruise has extensive documentation to prove that Los Angeles is where the case should proceed, because this is where he says they have lived.

'Tom is extremely disappointed that Katie filed in New York, and he feels that she is trying to cut him out of their daughter's life.

'Tom won't tolerate it and told his lawyers that if he personally needs to go to court and make a plea in front of the judge for an order allowing him to see his daughter, he will.'

It is believed Katie wants legal custody because she is worried about Tom's devotion to sci-fi cult Scientology and the effect the quasi-religious sect may have on their six-year-old daughter.

However a source told TMZ: '[Katie] was totally committed to Scientology. She had enthusiasm for it and would voluntarily and gladly participate in it when Tom was off shooting movies.

'This is not a fight over religion. It's being used as a way to hurt Tom.'

Meanwhile, an interview with Katie from next month's ELLE magazine hints that she may not have been happy in the relationship for some time.

Discussing turning 33, she told the US publication: 'I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. I'm staring to come into my own. It's like a new phase.'

Asked about her marriage, she admitted she wanted to focus on herself.

She said: 'He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.'

It's getting nasty: Tom Cruise says Scientology WASN'T behind split as divorce war with Katie Holmes heats up

•Sources close to Tom say divorce was NOT over Scientology
•Divorce proceedings will reportedly stay in the state of New York for now
•Katie steps out in New York looking very thin

By Donna Mcconnell

Tom Cruise's powerhouse lawyer has taken at a swipe at Katie Holmes, accusing her and her legal team of 'playing the media.'

While Cruise, 50, has kept silent save for the statement he issued immediately after Katie made her announcement, his lawyer Bert Fields spoke to the BBC yesterday about the impending battle between the couple and their fight for custody of Suri, six.

And in a thinly veiled attack on the former Dawson's Creek actress, he said: 'We are letting ‘the other side’ (Katie and her team), play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say.'

Under attack: Katie Holmes has been accused by her estranged husband Tom Cruise's lawyer of 'playing the media' in order to win public sympathy

He added: 'Tactically we can’t say where Tom will file a divorce case and if he’ll be seeking joint custody of Suri.'

It was certainly an unprecedented broadside intended to draw sympathy away from the actor's estranged wife, and all the more notable as Tom, who celebrated turning 50 this week is notoriously private.

Fields, who spoke to BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat, would not be drawn on specific details of the divorce - but did use his opportunity to express that his client was 'really sad about what's happening'.

He added: 'It’s not Tom’s style to do this publicly. He is really sad about what’s happening.'

The now warring spouses are not speaking, but Tom is reportedly calling Suri 'several times a day'.

Tom has borne the brunt of the negative publicity surrounding the divorce, and it seems his lawyer is keen to redress the balance.

But yet more revelations emerged today claiming Tom controlled Katie 'like a puppetmaster making every major and minor decision in her personal and professional life', wrote TMZ.

Tea time: Katie and Suri also had a meal at Alice's tea cup during their girly day out together

And sources close to the actress claimed: 'In the end, she felt like she couldn't breathe without his permission.'

In 2005, early in the couple's relationship during filming of Thank You for Smoking Tom allegedly instructed producers to 'kill' any promotional photos which showed Katie and co-star Aaron Eckhart engaged in kissing or 'anything else compromising.'

He is also said to have imposed his will during her stint on Batman Begins to prevent Katie from flying with the rest of the cast. Instead, Katie was made to travel to set on Tom's private jet.

A source told TMZ actor Morgan Freeman was supposedly 'disgusted' by the situation.

Field's attack came as Katie stepped out looking worryingly thin with a tired looking Suri.

Katie carried her daughter during a trip with friends - accompanied by security - to the Children's Museum of the Arts in the Soho area of New York City.

And a long-limbed Suri, dressed in a pink dress and holding onto a cuddly toy, clung on to her actress mother.

Yesterday, Katie - who filed for divorce from the Hollywood star last week - spent American holiday Independence Day as a single mother for the first time.

The Dawson's Creek beauty was seen at Wholefoods supermarket near her Chelsea apartment stocking up on food supplies.

It emerged yesterday that Katie had been secretly planning her divorce assault for several weeks with the help of her father Martin Holmes.

Solo outing: Katie and Suri enjoyed another day out this time with some playmates in New York

Exhausted: Suri Cruise looks tired by the news her parents are set for a custody battle following their divorce

The secretive plan included switching all her cell phones and email addresses.

Katie was said to be contact with Tom, right up until last week, playing the role of doting wife.

'She was talking to Tom on the phone up until last week saying, "I love you,"' a source told People magazine.

But the escape plan was well underway when the actress recently visited China for work commitments.

'Her inner circle has been planning this and switching out cell phones since she was in China [in mid-June],' the source said.

'When new cell phones arrived, then nobody could reach her. Her old best friends from last week don't have her new number, no e-mail. She's unreachable.'

Katie even allegedly bent the truth to Tom about her new Chelsea apartment.

Protected: Katie was flanked by a burly security guard

'[Tom] knew that she moved there, but [he thought it was] for different reasons,' the source told People.

'She said she moved there to drive into the underground garage. There are fewer paparazzi and it's less intrusive for her,' the source continued.

'It was the first phase of getting everything out of the house, and that's why she was able to say she's moving without giving an indication that she was going to divorce him.'

Katie's father also fired some of his daughter's assistants and hired new ones in place to help out with the grand plan.

In their new apartment building, neighbours say mother and daughter are a joy to have.

Moving on: Katie Holmes was seen at Wholefoods supermarket near her Chelsea apartment yesterday, stocking up on supplies

'Katie and Suri have been very friendly to everyone they see in the building,' a source told Radaronline. 'But they mostly keep to themselves.'

However the pair have been spotted using the communal children's playroom.

'Suri was there playing. Katie was with her and they were very sweet to the other people in the room.

'There were a few other kids there and Suri quietly played with them. She seemed like a nice little girl and the other kids looked like they were having fun with her.'

Tom, who has kept busy by shooting his latest movie Oblivion in Iceland, returned to Los Angeles earlier this week where he marked his 50th birthday with a quiet lunch alongside adopted children Connor and Isabella but not Suri.

He is said to have made it his 'first priority' to get temporary visitation rights to his daughter Suri.

The 50-year-old actor - who was 'blindsided' when his wife filed for divorce from him last week after five years of marriage and sought legal custody of their child - intends to go to court in Los Angeles in person to ensure he is legally allowed to see the youngster.

Katie filed for the divorce in New York because she believes she has a better chance of winning sole custody, and although Tom was encouraged to file in California, the law states divorce cannot be filed in separate states at the same time.
