But Kris Humphries is showing the reality star what she has been missing since she filed for divorce after just 72 days of marriage in October.

Backstage shots show the New Jersey Nets player larking around with the stylist as they waited patiently for shots to be set up.

His short marriage to Kim left him landing headlines for the wrong reasons, but Kris is likely to have gained a new legion of admirers this week, after making a dedicated fan who is suffering from cancer a guest of honour at one of his games.

He proposed in a blaze of romantic glory, spelling out the words 'will you marry me' in red rose petals, before producing a $2 million diamond ring.

But now it has emerged that Kris Humphries' televised proposal to Kim Kardashian was not all it seemed.

According to Radar Online, Kris has told his inner circle of trusted friends that Kim 'planned' exactly how he would pop the question.

'Kim told Kris how, where and when to propose, it was absolutely no surprise to her whatsoever," a source close to the situation told the website.

Kris apparently had wanted to propose to Kim in his home state of Minnesota, but ended up popping the question in the bedroom of her Los Angeles mansion.

The proposal, which took place last May, was captured on reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, shown last September.

The insider added: 'First of all, Kris proposed in the middle of the day, and he had to do that because it would create better lighting to capture the moment.

The source said: 'Kim told him the paparazzi would ruin the special moment if it were to take place in a public setting, like the beach, which he had also considered. How romantic could it be with three camera crews?'

The proposal showed Kris painstakingly spelling out 'Will You Marry Me' in Kim's room.

The latest allegation comes after reports surfaced that other elements in the hit reality show are staged.

Photographs of the pair, taken on December 6, showed the pair leaving a TV studio, with Kim dressed in the exact same outfit, with the same hair style and earrings, as she is seen wearing in the scene supposedly shot in mid-October in Dubai.

Mother Kris was followed out of the studio by an assistant carrying the purple kaftan-style dress she is seen wearing in the back of the limo.

Radar has previously reported that Kim has full editorial control over what is aired on her reality shows.

'Kim has been telling her inner circle that she has worked very hard to get where she has, and she isn't going to let her marriage and subsequent decision to divorce Kris Humphries ruin that.'

Kris Humphries made for very awkward viewing today as he fumbled his way through his first television interview since his split from Kim Kardashian.

The 26-year-old NBA free agent feebly attempted to deflect questions about his personal life on Good Morning America today.

He was grilled by host Josh Elliot, who would not let up as Humphries tried to turn the conversation around to sport and charity awareness.


Sources close to the star say he is 'livid' in wake of the sit down chat - and was not expecting it to be so heavily laden with questions about his estranged wife - who split from him after just 72 days of marriage.

Kris was accompanied by his mother Debra, who held his hands at times during the chat.

He repeatedly avoided questions about his divorce from the 31-year-old reality star - only saying he was trying to 'move forward' with his life when asked if he was still in love with her.

'I'm not focused on that, right now I'm focused on basketball,' he said when asked about his proposed annulment from his short-lived marriage.

When asked by the host if it was tough for him to watch himself on the reality show - considering he already knew the ending - he said: 'The only things I watch of myself on TV are me playing basketball.

'I have never really been someone to watch the show, on TV, or anything like that.'

His mother added: 'The important thing is that we stay close as a family - it's our faith in God that carries us through all of these times.

'We have so much to be thankful for right now. We're looking forward not backward.'

TMZ reports Kris only agreed to take part in the show to plug his 'foundation' and his mother's 'cookie bake'.

But GMA sources tell the website that no ground rules were set on the line of questioning.

Kris says that he is fighting childhood obesity with his foundation: 'Life is more about giving back,' he said.

When asked if he thought his public image had taken a hit he replied: 'If people know me and they know who I am and what I stand for I think that they'll know that I love to give back, and I, you know, I'm a fun guy.

'You know I don't really play into all the gossip and things that take place, but you know, that's life.'

NBA star Kris Humphries is seeking to erase his marriage to Kim Kardashian from the record.

The 26-year-old wants to annul his 72-day marriage to reality star Kim Kardashian, 31 , on the grounds of fraud, and filed the papers today.

According to People, his Superior Court filing has the box reading 'nullity of voidable marriage' marked and checks as the basis the box saying 'fraud.'

According to California law, a nullity is granted if the court finds that no valid marriage ever took place.

Along with fraud, grounds for an annulment include bigamy, incest, force or if the couple are under the age of consent.

Humphries's papers say that if he's not granted an annulment then he wants a legal separation and not a divorce under any circumstances.

The basketball star agrees on the date of separation, however, which he also lists as October 31.

Annulments can be difficult to obtain, with a legal expert telling the publication that he will likely have to prove that fraud was actually committed.

But Kim is telling her friends that she absolutely loved Kris and the marriage just fell apart, according to TMZ, so she's unlikely to be agree with this assessment.

LA family lawyer Scott Weston, who is not dealing with the celebrity couple, said Kardashian will probably fight the matter 'unless she's willing to agree that she defrauded him.'

It could mean the pair will end up in a bitter court battle.

'[Kris] is sensitive to marriage both emotionally and religiously,' a source told the magazine, adding that the move is 'symbolic' rather than financially motivated.

'He went into it in good faith and never expected things to turn out this way,' says the source.

The pair's troubles seemed to start immediately after their wedding and were on display in the season premiere of Kourtney & Kim Take New York.

Kim had made no secret of her wedding dreams long before she'd even met Kris, but now feels that she has to be more realistic when it comes to men.

While her sister Kourtney has just announced she is pregnant with her second child, the 31-year-old fears she may never become a mother.

She said: 'I always wanted what my parents had. And at first I was like, I want six kids. Then I went down to four, then I was down to three, and now I'm just like, maybe I won't have any. Maybe I'll just be a good aunt.

'At this moment in my life, I feel like maybe I'm not supposed to have kids and all that. That's how I feel. Maybe my fairytale has a different ending than I dreamed it would, but that's OK.'

Us Weekly also reports that the 26-year-old was brutal with his comments towards his new wife and insulted her constantly.

A source told the magazine: ‘He belittled her in front of people. He'd call her stupid. It was truly sickening.’

‘He tried to control Kim by bringing her down...He would say truly terrible things. One time, he said she had no talent and her fame wouldn't last.’

The shocking claims have been made as a spokesperson for E!, who broadcasted the wedding special, said the showbiz channel were holding emergency meetings following Kim's announcement yesterday, according to the Hollywood Reporter.


A statement read: 'All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news. And we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time.

'The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions.

However, sources close to Kim and Kris said their relationship was 'pretty much an arranged marriage right from the start'.

The source added to Radaronline.com: 'Kim was looking for a husband and Kris was selected for her, amongst others.

'She wasn't really into him but she hoped she would be able to develop some feelings, but it never happened.

'Kris turned out to not be as malleable as everyone hoped he would be, he was pictured out partying with other girls, Kim really couldn't care less for him, she decided to end it.'

Meanwhile, as Kim announced the end of the marriage, the inevitable questions began to arise about how much money the pair made from their union.

Kim's decision to file papers against Kris just hours before her mother's book, Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian, goes on sale tomorrow, could certainly be viewed as a calculated move.

It's a miscalculation of tone that Kim might live to regret, as fans begin to question the reality behind her family's money-spinning soap opera.

Whatever the truth, there is no doubting the fact that 31-year-old Kim's marriage has been lucrative for the Kardashian family.

Was it ever love? This is the moment when fans wept to see Kim find happiness, but now they doubt it


And for that matter, the abandoned spouse, Kris Humphries, 26.

The wedding, which would've cost the couple $10 million if they'd had to pay for their freebies, netted a whopping $18 million.

A huge chunk of that - around $15 million - is thought to have been TV rights which formed part of the family's exclusive deal with E!

Whatever the exact breakdown, their marriage ending now means that the whole haul has earned the couple about $250,000 per day.

This is sure to be a loss he feels keenly.

E! report that alongside the prenuptial agreement she put in place, the brunette wants property separated immediately, and for each party to pay their own legal fees.

She listed 'miscellaneous jewellery and other personal effects' as well as 'earrings and accumulations' amassed before, during and after her marriage to be confirmed as separate property but no word on whether that includes her $2 million, 20.5-carat diamond ring.

It's a businesslike approach that's typical of the Kardashian model.

After Kim started the day with her advert for their latest enterprise, Kris Jenner waded in with her own promo, for both QVC AND her book.

She wrote on her Twitter: 'How fab is this sequin top I'll be selling at QVC tonight??! Just like the one I'm wearing on my memoir cover!!!'

Meanwhile Kourtney changed the subject with: 'Happy Halloween! I am ready for costumes and trick or treating!'

Their incongruous tweets stood out in the tidal wave of commentary on the showbiz story of the day.

One fan who tweets as Bookgirl96 summed up the prevailing mood when she wrote: 'The Kim Kardashian definition of 'forever' is 'when the check is cashed.'

It was referring to the tellingly passionless statement that Kim eventually released: 'I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.'

The network's urge to protect their golden goose's integrity is understandable.

Four million viewers watched the original wedding special, and 900,000 are estimated to have tuned into each repeat.

The machinations of 'momager' Kris Jenner are well documented but if it's starting to look like the hapless Kris was co-opted into her plans purely because he plays basketball and has the initial 'K,' her matriarchal bossiness could be viewed as calculated exploitation.

So with Kim and Kourtney Take New York premiering on November 27, in which the short-lived romance will be documented, Kim needs to convince her pay-masters that there were hearts in her almond eyes at one point, and not just dollar signs.
