..She announced the happy news that's she's set to wed her toyboy lover this afternoon.

And TV presenter Melanie Sykes has wasted no time in showing off her sparkling engagement ring.

The 42-year-old stepped out earlier today with the diamond band on her ring finger showing in all its glory.

She was seen walking along a London street looking at her iPhone after buying groceries in her local shop.

Looking pretty and relaxed following the announcement, Sykes walked along in an emerald green polka dot frock with a leather jacket over the top.

She wore flats and used her sunglasses to keep her hair off her face.

And she no doubt was looking at congratulatory messages as she looked engrossed at her smartphone while carrying her shopping bags.

Clearly flashing her engagement ring, Melanie was en route to meet up with fiance Jack Cockings, who she met on Twitter three months ago.

Cockings wrote on Twitter this evening: 'Having a nice drink and dinner with my beautiful fiancée @MsMelanieSykes.'

The divorced mother-of-two announced her plans to wed the 26-year-old roofer on her Twitter page today.

The couple exchanged flirty messages on the micro-blogging site in April, before she finally agreed to an actual date in May.

She wrote on her Twitter page today: 'To my beautiful twitter friends just want to let you know that me & Jack @bespokespartan are engaged to be married and we are very giddy xxx.'

Half an hour later, she added: 'Your messages of congratulations have made me cry in a gorgeous lovely way. Thank you so much peeps. I love you xxxxx.'

Jack, who grew up in Dorset, owns his own roofing contracting company and has a five-year-old son from a previous relationship.

Her new romance hit the headlines after just a few weeks of dating when they exchanged saucy public messages on Twitter.

In one of the racy posts Melanie tweeted that she had 'the giddiest knickers of my life' and told Jack: 'I've got the raging horn, please take me'.

In another, smitten Melanie wrote: 'Jack the rabbit I need some bunny love so hop to it!! Xxx boing boing!!! Loooooool xxxxxxx'.

He replied: 'Only if I can bounce into your face! Xxx', to which she asked: 'Will you fill mine? Xxx'.

Their messages caused an uproar, but Melanie recently insisted she didn't mind them to be public.

She told the Daily Mail: 'I don’t even consider the people who follow me on Twitter as fans. They’re friends, my community. It was just giddiness, banter; silly fun.

'Nothing rude was actually happening, we were in different counties at the time. And I didn’t mean to offend anyone because I’m not an offensive girl. I’m nice! If I did upset anyone, I’m really sorry. I just got a bit carried away.'

She also insisted she wasn't bothered by their 15 year age gap.

She told the Mail: 'I’m extremely happy, and vice versa.

'Some older men find my independence threatening. Younger men don’t. It’s a generational thing. It’s quite a big ask for a man to be with someone as insanely independent as me, and younger men have the confidence.

'My ex-husband was two years younger than me. I’ve always gone out with younger men. They’re more fun and love to have a laugh.’

In 2009, Sykes was granted a quickie divorce from actor husband Daniel Caltagirone due to his 'unreasonable behaviour'.

Sykes and Caltagirone split in 2008 after eight years of marriage and two sons Roman, 10, and Luca, eight.

In papers released to the public after the divorce hearing, Sykes claimed she had been left 'distressed' by her husband's failure to understand their financial troubles.

Prior to Jack, she dated James Abram, an associate producer on The Paul O'Grady Show.
In 90s, she also dated Bros star Matt Goss and actor Max Beesley.

That's what happens when you date a personal trainer! Melanie Sykes showed off her tanned and toned figure in a strappy vest top and shorts as she stepped out with a friend in London yesterday


She might be 41, but Melanie Sykes is looking better than ever thanks to her relationship with her new toyboy, Craig Eleftheriou.

And it's not only the fact that she is dating a man 13 years younger than herself that is giving the TV presenter a new lease of life, but also the fact that Craig is a personal trainer.

So it's no wonder Melanie decided to show off the results of her new fitness regime, devised by her beau, by donning a strappy vest top and tiny shorts for a day out in London with a female friend.

Melanie, who first made her name in the Boddingtons Bitter adverts in the 1990s, teamed her summer chic outfit with a pair of lace up black sandals, sunglasses and a trendy brown tote bag.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mirror, mother-of-two Melanie admitted she loves her 'ripped' new look.

She said: 'I wasn’t ­that ­insecure about how I looked ­before. But I love how I look now. I like being toned, it’s a good ­feeling. But it’s not about luck.

'I put the work in. You go to the gym and you work b***** hard, so it’s nothing to do with luck. You watch what you eat, anybody can do it. It’s about commitment.'

And Melanie added it's her relationship with Craig which has given her a whole new interest in working out and staying fit.

She said: 'I’ve never really been this ­bothered before. I did a bit of yoga and running, but nothing much, I sort of dabbled. It’s only been in the last three or four months that I’ve really got into it.

'I’ve always been slim but my body changed with the children. My job’s ­always demanded that I’m slim and I’ve got a high ­metabolism. I just feel ­more ripped.'

She added: 'I really like my arms. Sometimes they look a little bit Popeye-like, but they're very toned and I'm proud of them.

'I look the way I do at the moment because I work hard at it and I'm honest about that. I don't roll out of bed looking amazing.'

As well as working as a successful model, Melanie also shot to fame presenting The Big Breakfast.

And she has recently returned to the small screen presenting Let's Do Lunch With Gino and Mel, alongside flamboyant TV chef Gino D'Acampo.

But despite hosting a cookery programme, Melanie admits she still has to watch what she eats - sticking to a low carb diet with very little red meat.

She explained: 'I want to look the best I possibly can. And when you're with someone who is into fitness because of his job and whose body is unbelievable, you've got to match that.

'I don't want to not measure up to him!'
